One of the most effective ways to work from home is to write product reviews. You can either do this altruistically and hope that your page gets enough views so you can charge rates for advertising space, or you can sign up to be an affiliate and promote their products. You’ll want to make sure that what you are writing is honest and that you’ve actually tried the product.
This information isn’t new, nor is it original or flashy, but it has been effective. You will probably think that it is a lot like what your high school English teacher tried to teach you, and you’re probably right. I can’t stress enough (at least to my kids) how important it is to have structured writing when they are turning in papers for school. The same principles apply when writing product reviews. People generally have a hard time if all the information is given to them from the barrel of a shotgun, scattered and disjunctive.
Quick Tips
When you write, make sure that you aren’t overly enthusiastic. That will make the bs sensor in people’s brains go haywire. If you curb your ebullient enthusiasm, people will trust you more. At the same time, don’t be too harsh or critical about the product. If you are, that will completely destroy any possibility of actually selling the product. (Who wants to buy a piece of junk?). So make sure that the tone of the review is positive for the most part. It will give people a reason to want to buy the product. And be sure to mix in skepticism or point out some flaws in the product. Everyone knows that nothing is perfect, and they expect to see that products have some downsides, even if they aren’t serious or fatal. Be sure to examine the product closely enough that you can tell what its weaknesses are or what potential weaknesses could be. And when you write, make sure that you write in a tone that is credible and that people will believe.
Ok, now to get going on how to write effective reviews! When you write them, you’ll want to follow a basic five or 6 paragraph review. In this review you’ll want to add in healthy skepticism, good descriptions, and, lest I forget, exciting news that will capture people’s attention!
Headline
The first thing that you will focus on will be the headline. For obvious reasons, this is the most important part of the review. Your potential readers/customers won’t be captive, like your English teachers were when they read your papers. They have so many alternatives easily available to them that if you don’t capture their interest, they will move on to the next site. And I’m not talking the normal turnover that happens, but they will leave your site in droves. Make sure you have an interesting headline. Make sure you inform the reader of how you heard about it and were skeptical of the claims made about it.
Paragraph 1
In this paragraph, you’ll explain that you bought the product, though you were still hesitant. You’ll want to explain that by this point you had a clear understanding of what the product was supposed to do. Not only that, but you’ll explain that you thought it would probably fulfill the basic functions, but that you didn’t expect anything more out of it. If you’re more daring you could also include something like how you had your phone in hand with the customer service number on speed dial when you opened the product and started to try it out.
Paragraph 2
In the second paragraph you will want to explain that you tried the product out, even though you didn’t really think it would live up to the promises the advertising made about it. (How many times has a rocketship with aliens landed while you’ve been eating a meal at McDonald’s?) You could even mention a few humorous anecdotes to ensure that you’ve got the attention of the readers.
Paragraph 3
This is the paragraph that you will use to explain the results of having tried the product. Frame this paragraph so that you can say that you were surprised that it worked and that it worked so well. Explain what you used it for and how you were able to successfully accomplish that feat.
Paragraph 4
In fact, the product worked so well, that not only were you surprised, but you decided that you needed to tell people about it. Take the time to speculate or suggest for whom you think the product would be most beneficial. You could also explain why you think that it would be good for the people for whom you are suggesting it.
Paragraph 5
Take the time to restate what the major benefit of the product was and why it was so helpful to you.
Make sure that when you set this site up you make easy access for the customers who are reading your reviews to actually purchase the materials! I have found it to be effective to use both text links to the product and banners off to the side and above the ad. You could also include banners about other products that aren’t the one that you are reviewing , and even include links to other reviews that you have done.
The whole point is to make money online from your work from home business!
