How get more exposure for your blog!

One of the most frustrating things that I dealt with when I started blogging was getting enough people to my blog.  I didn’t have the money to advertise and I wasn’t able to make more extra money to get to the point where I could do that (that’s why I started blogging).  I was trying to find the answer and was struggling, but I found some good suggestions, thanks to good friends and Google.  I was able to use the techniques to make my internet business successful and to make money online.

Join a Blogging Network

There are three blogging networks that I recommend that you join: Weblogsinc.com, blogger.com, and 451press.com.  Most of these are free and they will really give you a hand up on getting more people to your blog.

WeblogsInc.com: There is no cost to sign up for this site, but you do have to apply.  The application process is rather simple, all you do is submit a few sample entries which they will review to make sure they fit their standards.

Blogger.com: Blogger is google’s blogging service.  It is easy, free, and allows for customization of your blog.  When your blog is on Blogger.com they will randomly select different people to be featured, in the “featured blogs” area of the blog.  Most of the traffic that goes to Blogger blogs comes from this feature.  Another nice point, is that they do basic analytics of your site, so you can see roughly how well you are doing.

451Press.com: 451 Press does accept people who want to increase exposure and write about their passions, even though it is still in Beta.

Use Craigslist

Craigslist can be a great way to get more people to your blog.  I have found that using the “Community” section can be a great booster to my blog.  It is a great way to get viewers from my area.  Sign in to your craigslist account, or sign up for one if you don’t have one already, go to the closest geographic area  to the “Community” area and decide which of the sub-sections best fits your blog.  Once you’ve determined that, you should start posting little discussion points on there (a la twitter, but not restricted to 140 characters or less) and include the link to your site.  People like to use craigslist to discuss topics, especially if they live in relatively urban or metro areas.  Using this method was very effective for me as I started blogging!  A word of caution,   as much fun as this one can be, you do need to be careful to not over-post, or to violate the terms and conditions of use on the site.  Make sure that when you use Craigslist that you have read the terms and conditions.

Use Social Media

Facebook, Twitter, and a host of other social media sources can drive lot of free traffic to your blog.  This method gave me the most viewers when I first started blogging.  I would share a link on my facebook profile and because my friends would follow me, they would usually follow the link.  As my posts got better, my friends became followers on my blog. It was great.  I would also use Twitter to share links for my blog.  I started tweeting about things related to my blog and every now and again, I would push my blog or a recent post I had done.  I really was able to get things going that way!  There are also tons of other sites that you can use to promote, like Squidoo, Digg, Reddit, and others.  Take advantage of people’s craving for information on the internet!

Use these techniques and you’ll find yourself on your way to making money online and being successful with your internet business.

  7. - This is my first visit to your blog. I’m following from the Soli Deo Gloria. So I can’t give you a solid ansewr for your question. I do know that God will guide you as you obey each step. The reason I blog? Because encouragement is my life long passion. There’s so much to be discouraged about. I want to make life more beautiful, more meaningful and more blessed for others. And I want to teach others how to encourage that it doesn’t take a lot of creativity or money. God was very definate when it was time for me to blog. And He bloomed the throught in my heart that it was to include my daughters. So we blog together and it brings more joy than I thought possible. As a writer, my advice to you would be start the book. Don’t worry about grammar, punctuation or spelling. Just write your heart. The other things can be fixed. People just want to hear your heart and from what I’m reading, your heart is very, very special.
